This tea is famed for its medicinal properties. The leaves come from the Yunnan Dayeh variety of tea tree, which is purported to be a close relative of the original tea tree of pre-glacial times.

The tea leaves are picked, rolled, and withered in the hot sun. After withering, the leaves are steamed and pressed into cakes. Over time, the tea takes on a musty and earthy character. Pu-erh is often stored for years, like wine, the taste mellowing with time. This young Pu-erh is full of flavor. The original cakes have been crumbled into a loose tea for convenience.

Use 1 level teaspoon per 6 oz cup. Heat water until boiling. Steep for 3-5 minutes.
