yerba mate tea Yerba Mate tea is a caffeinated beverage very popular in South America. Its history dates back at least to the 1500's when the Spanish made contact with the Guarani Indians, the original purveyors of this fine brew.

Yerba Mate tea is often consumed in a social setting referred to as a "Mate Circle", utilizing a Mate gourd (Cuia) and a Mate straw (Bombilla).
